Washed Ashore is about dealing with ideas, events and feelings that haven’t yet been immersed into the sea of higher consciousness. Those patterns that keep returning to the shore of our minds, egged on by various occurrences, small and large.
Like the condiments that go into making a good, tasty cup of masala chai; these stories about people, places and events surrounding the ritual of drinking or making tea, draw a portrait of city/nation/self.

It took me fourteen years to ‘come out of the closet’ (as it were) and publicly read a poem I’d written, for the first time. Poetry, however, has since become an integral facet to my presentations as visual artist. And all major exhibitions of my art feature my poems. ‘A Matter of Words’ strives to be a composite archive of published poems…..but not always up to date….
The very basis of all that we use as fabric is thread. The painter’s canvas is also made of thread. Knitting, crochet, embroidery and weaving are all arts devised through and by thread.
